Our small business group is seeking an exceptional individual to fill the position of Small Business Loan Underwriting Supervisor. This role requires a highly skilled professional with expertise in analyzing loan applications, specifically in the healthcare industry. As the Underwriting Supervisor, you will lead a dedicated team of experienced underwriters, providing guidance and support throughout the loan approval process.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assess the quality of retail credit applications, resolve customer complaints, and overcome obstacles to turn denials into lending opportunities. Additionally, process loan documents and assist branch lenders in promoting loan products and services, ensuring the development of a profitable loan portfolio while minimizing losses.
  • Play a key role in the recruitment and selection of underwriters and servicers, assign and distribute work, and conduct annual performance evaluations. You will also make final decisions on loans beyond the authority limits of junior staff.
  • Develop a well-performing retail loan portfolio by analyzing applications, credit reports, and ensuring loan approvals meet or exceed established quality, profitability, growth, and service objectives.
  • Measure the profitability of the loan portfolio by monitoring delinquency ratios, net charge-offs, and growth targets.
  • Make credit decisions for retail loans, providing guidance and mentorship to developing underwriters. You will also contribute to the training of new products, employees, and services.
  • Assist in establishing effective workflows and queuing strategies to optimize productivity and efficiency.
  • Embody strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with both customers and employees, ensuring exceptional service delivery.
  • Effectively resolve customer complaints and problems by thoroughly investigating and proposing equitable solutions that comply with regulations and internal policies in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities for other bank products, specifically credit products, in order to meet customer needs and contribute to the bank's profitability.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
