Skills and Experience:

This is a senior-level role that entails serving as the lead on large commercial projects or smaller projects to handle scheduling responsibilities. The main duties include gathering and analyzing project information, and creating clear documents that help eliminate design discrepancies and problems. This will enhance the efficient planning and scheduling of projects. The individual will collaborate with the project team and trade partners to develop detailed schedules. They will also monitor projects based on established schedules according to departmental procedures. Additionally, the job requires input, analysis, and monitoring of design deliverables, procurement, and construction timelines. The individual will be responsible for producing internal and external reports that outline project status. Problem-solving efforts will involve applying planning/scheduling and cost techniques and methods based on the individual's level of experience, which will entail significant evaluation, analysis, and modification of such standards.

Requirements:

  • Superb written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Outstanding prioritization and organizational skills; meticulous attention to detail.
  • Extensive working knowledge of ERP cost management tools.
  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera 6.
  • Proficiency in programs like Excel and Word.
  • Comprehensive understanding of various construction disciplines.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of prior experience in industrial or commercial construction.
  • Preferably holds a B.S. Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Business Administration.

 

Essential Job Duties:

The Construction Scheduler (Commercial) will oversee all project scheduling activities for assigned projects. They will create schedules based on their knowledge and understanding of schedule development and the construction industry.

 

  • Develop conceptual schedules independently or with minimal input from the project team for discussion and refinement.
  • It would be beneficial to have expertise in scheduling and 3D modeling.
  • Maintain a database of estimated durations for activities and overall project durations.
  • Create the initial overall schedule using well-defined and properly sequenced work activities.
  • Supervise all project scheduling activities and provide necessary status updates, forecasts, and reports.
  • Collaborate with the project team to develop various project schedule layouts, alternate schedules, and progress measurements.
  • Review and critique monthly updates to the schedule from Vendors and Subcontractors.
  • Ensure that the updates accurately represent the work completed.
  • Understand the flow and logistics required for project execution.
  • Support ongoing projects by working closely with the project manager and discipline leads to assess project status, identify areas for improvement, address delays, and concentrate efforts where needed.
  • Propose work around plans to keep the project on track.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by project management.
