Scheduler – Commercial Construction

Required Skills and Experience:

This senior-level role involves leading large-scale commercial projects or smaller projects, overseeing scheduling responsibilities. The main responsibilities include compiling and analyzing project information and creating clear documents that identify and resolve design discrepancies and issues. This contributes to more efficient project planning and scheduling. The role also entails developing detailed schedules with the project team and trade partners, and monitoring projects according to established schedules and departmental procedures. The person in this position will be responsible for inputting, analyzing, and tracking design deliverables, procurement, and construction schedules. Additionally, they will generate internal and external reports on project status. The work involves applying planning/scheduling and cost techniques and methods based on the level of experience, as well as evaluating, analyzing, and modifying these standards in problem-solving efforts.

Requirements:

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills; attention to detail
  • Extensive experience with ERP cost management tools
  • Strong proficiency in Primavera 6
  • Working knowledge of programs such as Excel and Word
  • Broad knowledge of construction disciplines
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of previous industrial or commercial construction experience
  • B.S. Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Business Administration preferred

Primary Responsibilities:

The Project Planner oversees all project scheduling activities for assigned projects. They utilize their expertise in schedule development and understanding of the construction industry to create schedules that align with project requirements.

  • Create initial schedules independently and refine them through team collaboration
  • Preference for candidates with strong scheduling and 3D modeling skills
  • Maintain a database of estimated activity durations and overall project durations
  • Develop the baseline schedule by sequencing work activities accurately
  • Supervise all project scheduling activities and provide regular status updates, forecasts, and reports
  • Collaborate with the project team to develop project schedule layouts, alternative schedules, and progress measurement methods
  • Review and evaluate monthly schedule updates from vendors and subcontractors
  • Confirm the accuracy of the updates in reflecting completed work
  • Understand project flow and logistics
  • Support ongoing projects by communicating with the project manager and discipline leads about project status, identifying areas for improvement, addressing delays, and focusing on critical aspects
  • Suggest alternative plans to keep the project on track
  • Perform other duties as assigned by project management
