Scheduler – Commercial Construction

Qualifications and Skills:
This is a senior-level role that involves leading either large commercial projects or small projects, with a focus on scheduling responsibilities. The primary responsibilities include gathering and analyzing project information and creating clear and concise documents to identify design inconsistencies and issues, while enhancing the efficiency of project planning and scheduling. The candidate will collaborate with the project team and trade partners to develop detailed schedules. In addition, they will monitor projects based on predetermined schedules according to departmental procedures. The role also entails inputting, analyzing, and monitoring design deliverables, procurement, and construction schedules. Accurate and comprehensive reports on project status will be prepared for internal and external stakeholders. The job requires the application of planning/scheduling and cost techniques and methods, and the candidate will be involved in evaluating, analyzing, and modifying these standards to resolve problems.
Requirements:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong aptitude for problem-solving and analysis.
- Effective prioritization and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in ERP cost management tools.
- Proficiency in Primavera 6.
- Working knowledge of programs such as Excel, and Word.
- Comprehensive understanding of construction disciplines.
- Prior experience of 7-10 years in industrial or commercial construction is mandatory.
- B.S. Degree – Preferred in Construction Management, Engineering, or Business Administration.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Project Scheduler is responsible for overseeing all project scheduling activities for assigned projects. This involves creating a schedule based on comprehensive knowledge and understanding of schedule development and the construction industry.
- Create conceptual schedules independently or with minimal input from the project team, and refine them through team discussions.
- Ideal candidates will have strong scheduling and 3D modeling skills.
- Maintain a database of estimated durations for activities and overall schedule durations.
- Develop the baseline overall schedule by sequencing work activities appropriately.
- Supervise all project scheduling activities and provide status updates, forecasts, and reports as necessary.
- Collaborate with the project team to develop project schedule layouts, alternative schedules, and methods of measuring progress.
- Review and evaluate monthly updates to the schedule by vendors and subcontractors.
- Verify the accuracy of the updates in reflecting the work accomplished.
- Understand the necessary flow and logistics for project execution.
- Support ongoing projects by working with the project manager and discipline leads, providing updates, identifying areas for improvement or delays, and proposing contingency plans to stay on track.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by project management.
