Scheduler – Commercial Construction

Required Skills and Experience:

This is a senior-level role that involves leading large commercial projects or small projects to handle scheduling responsibilities. The main responsibilities include gathering and analyzing project information and preparing comprehensive documents to identify and resolve design inconsistencies and issues. This role aims to enhance the planning and scheduling efficiency of projects. Collaborating with the project team and trade partners, you will develop detailed schedules and ensure that projects adhere to established timelines. Additionally, you will be responsible for inputting, analyzing, and monitoring design deliverables, procurement, and construction schedules. Generating internal and external reports on project status will also be part of the role. This position requires the application of planning/scheduling and cost techniques and methods, utilizing problem-solving skills through evaluation, analysis, and adaptation of industry standards.

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills with great attention to detail.
  • Proficient in using ERP cost management tools.
  • Proficient in using Primavera 6.
  • Working knowledge of programs like Excel and Word.
  • Comprehensive understanding of construction disciplines.
  • Must have 7-10 years of prior industrial or commercial construction experience.
  • Preferably hold a B.S. Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Business Administration.

Essential Job Duties:

The Construction Project Coordinator oversees all project scheduling activities for assigned projects. Using their extensive knowledge and understanding of schedule development and the construction industry, the Coordinator creates a schedule for each project.

  • Produce conceptual schedules independently, open to debate and refinement by the project team.
  • Prefers candidates with strong scheduling and 3D modeling skills.
  • Maintain a database of estimated durations for each activity and overall durations.
  • Develop the baseline schedule by properly sequencing work activities.
  • Supervise all project scheduling activities and provide regular status updates, forecasts, and reports as necessary.
  • Create project schedule layouts in collaboration with the project team, alternate schedules, and progress measurement plans.
  • Review and evaluate monthly schedule updates from Vendors and Subcontractors.
  • Ensure that the updates accurately reflect the progress of the work.
  • Understand the project's flow and logistics requirements.
  • Support ongoing projects by collaborating with project managers and discipline leads to assess project status, identify areas for improvement, address delays, and provide necessary attention to critical areas.
  • Suggest alternative plans to keep the project on track.
  • Perform additional duties as requested by project management.
