School Based Speech-Language Pathologist, SLP

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational Speech Therapist to join our team at the Tuscaloosa School District.

About the Position:

As an Educational Speech Therapist, you will play a vital role in helping students with communication disorders or difficulties. You will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, and swallowing impairments.


  • Conduct assessments and diagnose speech, language, communication, or swallowing difficulties.
  • Develop personalized treatment plans and implement effective therapy programs.
  • Provide counseling and support to patients and their families, explaining test results and treatment options.
  • Establish clear treatment goals and ensure patients are aware of the expectations.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient visits.
  • Delegate tasks to support staff when appropriate.
  • Follow communication and reporting guidelines as per state regulations.
  • Collaborate with medical specialists, such as dentists and psychologists, for further evaluation and treatment.


To be considered for this position, you must have the following:

  • A valid Speech-Language Pathologist certificate before starting employment.
  • CPR certification, TB skin test, and a valid driver’s license with auto insurance.
  • Minimum of an associate degree in Speech-Language Pathology or graduation from a certificate program.
  • Prior experience is preferred, but not required.
