Overview:
Our Client, an aerospace company with a rich history of innovation, is seeking a Senior Engineer - Aircraft Structures to join their team. In this position, you will be involved in the design, development, and testing of proof-of-concept and prototype vehicles. You will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects and contribute to the company's legacy of groundbreaking achievements, including the development of aircraft such as Proteus, GlobalFlyer, SpaceShipOne, Model 401, and Stratolaunch.
Responsibilities:
As a Senior Engineer - Aircraft Structures, you will be responsible for managing the technical performance of the primary structures engineering team. Your duties will include:
• Maintaining technical authority over all aircraft primary structure and a significant portion of secondary structure
• Planning and overseeing structures design and analysis tasks, as well as structural modifications
• Ensuring proper configuration control and documentation of the aircraft structure, including analysis reports and technical content
• Managing the performance of the structures engineering team
• Assisting the Program Business Manager in tracking the cost and schedule of the aircraft structure
• Providing regular updates on project status to project management and the customer
• Collaborating with team members to deliver technical solutions within budgetary and scheduling constraints
• Mentoring and developing junior engineers on the project
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you should have the following qualifications:
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
• In-depth knowledge of composite aircraft structures design, construction, and test principles
• Experience in managing a team of designers and analysts working on composite structures
• Previous experience in designing and constructing composite aircraft primary structure
• Ability to oversee engineering activities throughout the entire lifecycle of a project
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with various stakeholders
• Experience in representing the company in direct communication with customers
• Familiarity with cost/schedule management tools and techniques
• Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering discipline
• At least 7 years of relevant work experience
• Minimum of 3 years of leadership/management experience in an engineering development environment
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
The following qualifications are desirable, but not required:
• Experience with large transport aircraft
• Proficiency in finite element analysis
• Knowledge of bonded and bolted composite structure
• Experience in large-scale structural testing
• Familiarity with rapid prototyping processes
• CAD Experience in Siemens NX, TeamCenter
• Flight test experience
• Pilot’s license
• Aircraft home-building experience
• DoD secret clearance
• Additional degrees or relevant work experience

• Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of materials up to 30 pounds
• Manual dexterity and coordination

• Working in an office setting for prolonged periods
• Regularly carrying up to 20 lbs. up and down stairs (files, books, office equipment, etc.)
• Occasional reaching overhead and lifting up to 15 pounds
• Effective communication skills
• Occasional exposure to non-hazardous chemical vapors and/or fumes
• Climbing up and down steps on a daily basis, if necessary
• Ability to read and understand SDS
Salary: $129,680-$194,520
