Our client is a leading provider of automation solutions for clients in various industries including food/bev, chemical, pharma, water/wastewater, printing, packaging, and CNC machining. They specialize in creating customized control systems to meet the specific needs of their clients. As they continue to expand their operations, they are searching for a skilled Senior Automation Engineer to join their team and contribute to their ongoing success.

Responsibilities of a Senior Automation Engineer:

Take on a vital role in the design, implementation, and support of industrial control systems. Collaborate closely with clients to understand their requirements and develop innovative solutions utilizing cutting-edge automation technology.

Day to Day Tasks

  • Determine automation and electrical components and software selection to meet customer specifications, application requirements, and industrial standards.
  • Create and configure PLC programs to optimize performance or resolve complex control issues.
  • Provide support during commissioning and startup of control systems, including identifying and resolving electrical, mechanical, and software problems.
  • Offer on-site and remote support for installed systems, including technical service assistance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Analyze the root cause of electrical, mechanical, and software failures and implement solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain project files for accurate documentation and efficient project management.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineering managers to schedule and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Lead and train other automation engineers to encourage continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications for Success

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in designing and implementing industrial control systems or control panels, with a strong background in PLC programming.
  • AS/BS in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or demonstrated industry experience.
  • Experience in one or more automation platforms preferred: Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, GE, Omron, Automation Direct, Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell Experion, ABB 800xA, FactoryTalk View, WinCC, Tatsoft, Ignition, iFix, Wonderware, as well as AC drives, DC drives, motion control, robotics, machine vision, and functional safety.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
