Lead Bridge Engineer


$125k to $160k annual salary

  • Take the lead in managing projects for PennDOT as well as local governments and agencies, predominantly in the Pennsylvania market. Provide technical support for bridge inspection projects in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
  • Foster strong relationships with PennDOT Central Office and PennDOT Districts across the Commonwealth.
  • Manage client relationships with both public and private clients, along with consultant teaming partners. Offer guidance and mentorship to engineers and technical staff. Oversee and coordinate NBIS bridge condition inspection projects for PennDOT and other clients.


  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is a must.
  • A minimum of 8-12 years of relevant work experience.
  • A minimum of 4-7 years of management experience.
  • Required license: Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Essential software: MicroStation.

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Possess Pennsylvania CBSI certification and required refreshers.
  • Demonstrate ability to offer guidance and mentorship to engineers and technical staff.
  • Proven experience in project management for PennDOT bridge inspection and design projects.
  • Expertise in NBIS bridge inspection and ancillary structure inspection.
  • Proficiency in bridge and structure load rating using PennDOT Software Suite, STAAD, and other software packages.
  • Experience with scope and price proposal development for bridge inspection and related projects.

Preferred Qualifications (Attributes that aren't required but would distinguish a candidate):

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in developing task order proposals, project scopes of work, and fee estimates.
  • Established relationships with PennDOT Central Office BOMO and PennDOT Districts throughout the Commonwealth.
  • Background in bridge inspections for DNREC or other local agencies.
