Senior Cost Accounting Analyst

Job Title: Senior Financial Analyst
Location: Minneapolis, MN
Salary: $80-90K
Job Summary of the Senior Financial Analyst: The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for overseeing financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting activities while supporting corporate finance operations, profitability analysis, analyzing financial data, and ensuring compliance. The Senior Financial Analyst will collaborate with various departments, including finance, operations, and management, to provide accurate and timely financial information to support decision-making processes and optimize the company's financial performance.
Qualifications of Senior Financial Analyst:
• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field
• 6+ years of progressive financial analysis experience (budgeting, forecasting, reporting, financial modeling)
• Must be adaptable to work additional hours during critical financial periods
• Experience in manufacturing or distribution industry
• Advanced knowledge of financial systems (e.g., Infor XA)
• CPA certification is desirable, but not mandatory
• Proficiency in month-end closing processes and balance sheet reconciliations

Responsibilities of the Senior Financial Analyst:
• Conduct financial analysis, performance evaluation, and variance analysis
• Collaborate with various departments to develop and maintain budgets and forecasts
• Analyze and review financial data, identify trends, and provide insights for improving profitability and cost efficiency
• Prepare and reconcile inventory valuations and reserves
• Develop and implement cost-volume-profit (CVP) models
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of inventory and related accounts
• Recommend and implement cost-saving initiatives and optimize profitability
• Oversee inventory valuation calculations and intercompany margin elimination
• Manage annual physical inventory and cycle count process
• Generate reports summarizing physical inventory adjustments
• Validate accuracy of item master data and ensure consistent population of relevant fields
• Analyze pricing and margins and identify opportunities for improvement
• Monitor and correct inventory transaction errors
• Assist with business acquisitions and system integrations related to financial analysis and reporting
• Resolve inventory valuation and purchase price issues
• Perform month-end closing activities, including accrual calculations, journal entries, and account reconciliations
• Develop and maintain gross margin reporting to improve inventory valuation accuracy
• Support annual financial audit and internal control implementation
• Participate in system enhancements and integration projects
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to provide financial data and respond to inquiries
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures
