Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Our client is seeking a Lead Electrical Design Engineer to oversee the planning and execution of current product optimization and new product development projects. Reporting to the Manager of Product Engineering, you will play a vital role in the technical aspect of these initiatives.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and enhancement of electrical systems for heavy vehicles
  • Utilize CAD software to create models and drawings in support of your projects
  • Collect and analyze electrical system data
  • Select and evaluate materials and components for electrical systems
  • Contribute to the creation of machine documentation
  • Conduct cost analysis of components and machines
  • Manage the development cycle for multiple projects
  • Establish testing requirements for functions and produce relevant documentation
  • Provide mentorship to junior team members

Qualifications:

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Possess 7+ years of design experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrate knowledge of electrical circuit design, components, systems, and controls
  • Have familiarity with data acquisition and communication protocols such as CAN bus, UDS, and SAE J1939
  • Proficient in 3D CAD software; preferably Siemens NX
  • Prior experience with Zuken E3 is highly desired
  • Additional experience in heavy equipment, off-road vehicle, or truck electrical design is advantageous
  • Familiarity with C programming would be beneficial
  • Possess practical "hands-on" electrical experience
