Senior Electrical Engineer

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and team-oriented individual to join our expanding team as a Lead Mechanical Engineer.


JOB SUMMARY:

As the Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the engineering and design of electrical systems for assigned projects. Your focus will be on HVAC and plumbing projects, where you will utilize your expertise to identify and provide effective solutions to electrical design challenges. You will collaborate closely with the Electrical Engineer Team Lead, Engineering Manager, and Preconstruction Manager to ensure that your conceptual designs meet the required standards and deliver optimal results.


DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in all stages of the electrical design process for the assigned project
  • Regularly communicate with the team lead electrical engineer to stay updated on scheduling requirements
  • Produce accurate construction drawings, perform calculations, and write specifications in accordance with the instructions provided by the team lead electrical engineer
  • Have a thorough understanding of the project's scope of work, engineering hours budget, and construction budget
  • Aid in the development and maintenance of drafting, design, and engineering standards
  • Apply your knowledge of engineering practices, mathematics, materials, and physical sciences to complete drawings independently or with minimal supervision
  • Collaborate effectively with project teams to track and meet project schedule milestones
  • Conduct site surveys and assess equipment as necessary
  • Provide engineering coordination during construction as assigned
  • Provide support on projects directed by the team lead electrical engineer
  • Contribute to the development of accurate preliminary design solutions for complex projects within tight deadlines
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with project stakeholders, contractors, and third-party associates
  • Perform other tasks within the scope of this role as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Have at least one (1) year of electrical engineering experience with a professional engineering firm or electrical contractor involved in MEP related or similar work
  • Possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Be willing to travel to worksites, up to 25% of the time

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of electrical and construction methods associated with the renovation of commercial, institutional buildings, and similar facilities
  • Have proficiency in systems design (e.g., Fire Alarm, TeleCom, Security, etc.)
  • Be a proficient user of Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, and other construction industry software
  • Familiarity with project management software such as Procore and Bluebeam Revu
  • High proficiency in AutoCAD/Revit Design software
  • Possess excellent mathematical skills to perform various job duties, review or prepare budgets and other job-related documents, and effectively fulfill the role of an electrical engineer
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, to effectively convey information to different audience groups, including customers, managers, leadership, colleagues, and business associates; ability to prepare professional written communications (e.g., emails, documents, etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of fostering and maintaining positive working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds, both internal and external to the company
  • Highly collaborative and committed to sharing relevant information consistently with team members
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently when needed, while also integrating effectively with project teammates to meet deadlines and expectations

  • Work is primarily conducted in office settings, with occasional outdoor work involved in inspecting various land use developments, construction sites, or public works facilities. Hand-eye coordination is required for operating drafting instruments, computers, and other office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be required to stand, walk, use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach above shoulder level, talk, hear, and smell. The employee may occasionally need to lift and move objects weighing up to 10 pounds. This role requires specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasional work in outdoor weather conditions may be required. The employee may also encounter moving mechanical parts, work in high, precarious places, and be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, the risk of electrical shock, and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet to moderate.
  • Travel may involve overnight stays for multiple nights, with the possibility of using a personal vehicle or commercial airplane.
