Senior Embedded Software Engineer (LR-22839)


Our client is currently hiring for the role of Principal Embedded Software Engineer. This position will be based in Los Angeles, CA and will report directly to the Director of Software Engineering within the Software Engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the development of innovative and cutting-edge projects, specifically focusing on the client's radios and advanced research initiatives. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on various areas of the system, including device drivers, networking functions and services, encryption, and security features. Additionally, this is a hybrid work schedule, with a minimum of 3 days required onsite per week. Onsite days for this position are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

The following list outlines some of the essential job functions and responsibilities:


· Actively contribute to the implementation of the software component of MAC (Medium Access Control) and mobile ad-hoc networking routing protocols.

· Collaborate on the development of network management software and web interfaces.

· Participate in the implementation of various security protocols and encryption algorithms.

· Contribute to the development of audio streaming and push-to-talk voice applications.

· Analyze and enhance product security and robustness to meet regulatory requirements such as NIST FIPS 140-3 and NIAP Common Criteria.

· Develop testing software for product performance and reliability testing.

· Assist in the development and maintenance of device drivers and board support packages for ARM and RISC-V based systems.

· Customize and script Linux systems.


· Possess a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a relevant field.

· Have at least 5 years of experience in embedded system software development.

· Possess expertise in C programming and have experience in Linux kernel driver development.

· Please note: U.S. citizenship is mandatory due to U.S. government contracts. Successful candidates will be subject to a background check.


· Knowledge and experience with various security protocols and encryption algorithms, including CNSA algorithms.

· Experience with socket programming and familiarity with Internet/Ethernet protocols.

· Understanding of MAC and Networking layers in communication systems.

· Experience in AMD UltraScale+, MPSoC, and Microchip Polarfire SoC BSP support package development.

· Familiarity with IPsec (Internet Protocol Security).

· Proficiency in Linux Interrupt Service Routine development.

$135,000 - $200,000 per year
