Senior Energy Engineer

JOB SUMMARY:

As the Senior Energy Engineer, you will lead project teams to deliver energy conservation projects by leveraging your expert knowledge and skills in energy engineering solutions. With a comprehensive understanding of central plants, co-generation, lighting, HVAC, building automation, building envelope, and renewable energy systems in commercial buildings, you will play a crucial role in making our clients' facilities more energy-efficient.


DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Take responsibility for developing energy conservation projects with high accuracy and productivity
  • Collaborate with internal and external resources such as engineers, project managers, estimators, auditors, and executive management
  • Effectively communicate technical information to customers, identifying improvement opportunities for their facilities
  • Conduct field energy surveys and establish productive relationships with customers
  • Analyze utility data to develop project proposals
  • Support the sales team in field project development and presentations
  • Provide project details and requirements to the proposal team for RFP responses
  • Prepare reports and spreadsheets of energy solutions
  • Collaborate with project managers and estimators on project cost development
  • Build rapport with internal team members, co-workers, customers, and vendors
  • Create realistic and achievable savings calculations and collaborate with the audit lead
  • Lead or provide technical support for energy audits
  • Streamline work efforts for maximum productivity and accuracy
  • Stay up-to-date with existing and emerging technologies
  • Maintain certifications as necessary
  • Support special projects assigned by Energy Services Manager or Energy Engineering Manager
  • Perform other duties within the scope of the Senior Energy Engineer role

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee and evaluate the work of assigned Energy Engineers, including hiring, training, and performance management

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Hold a Bachelor of Science in Engineering
  • Have a minimum of five years of engineering experience, with expertise in energy systems, efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainable practices for various sectors
  • Prior experience leading teams or projects
  • E.M. certification and Professional Engineer status are desirable
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Willingness to travel

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Demonstrate strong technical knowledge of energy efficiency practices and programs
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office suite and Adobe PDF, with exceptional skills in Excel
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive working relationships
  • Collaborative mindset and willingness to share details with team members
  • Self-managing and able to work autonomously or within a team to meet deadlines
  • Display optimism and innovation in navigating challenges

WORKING CONDITIONS

This job primarily operates in a professional office environment where standard office equipment is used, including computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

  • Ability to drive to business appointments and job sites
  • Travel may be required, including overnight stays and car or commercial airplane travel
  • Physical inspections of both interior and exterior building areas throughout the year
  • Opening mechanical equipment for inspection, subject to proper training and safety requirements
