Senior Inventory/Cost Accounting Analyst

Job Title: Senior Inventory/Cost Accounting Analyst – Remote Work Opportunity

Location: Minneapolis, MN

Salary: $80-90K

Key Responsibilities for the Senior Cost Accounting Analyst:

About the Role: In this role, you will be responsible for managing plant inventory, assisting with corporate accounting operations, analyzing standard costs, and ensuring compliance with internal controls.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of accounting experience (GL, reporting, costing, public accounting)

Perform inventory valuations and calculate inventory reserves

Collaborate with Operations and Purchasing teams to establish standard costs

Calculate resin-related rebates, credits, and provide monthly usage analysis

Conduct cost-volume-profit (CVP) analysis

Perform inventory and account reconciliations

Recommend process and policy changes to reduce costs and maximize profit

Handle capitalized variance calculation and intercompany margin elimination

Manage annual physical inventory and develop cycle count process

Generate summaries of physical inventory adjustments

Review item master accuracy and ensure consistency in expected fields

Analyze pricing and margins for business review and planning

Monitor inventory transactions to identify errors and discrepancies

Assist with system integrations related to standard costs and materials management

Resolve inventory valuation and purchase price issues with cross-functional teams

Complete assigned month-end close tasks, including accruals and journal entries

Develop reporting on gross margin and inventory valuation accuracy

Support annual financial audits and internal control implementation

Collaborate in system enhancements and integration projects

Respond to internal and external stakeholders' inquiries and reporting requests

Maintain confidentiality and adhere to legal and company policies

Perform other duties as required to support business operations

Requirements for the Senior Cost Accounting Analyst:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of accounting experience (GL, reporting, costing, public accounting)
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and ERP systems
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced understanding of standard costs in a manufacturing setting
  • Strong problem-solving and strategic thinking abilities
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
