We are currently seeking a Principal Project Engineer to join our team at one of the leading civil contracting companies in the world. Our company specializes in Heavy Civil and Site Development projects and is based in Tampa, FL.

This position requires experience managing medium to large-scale heavy civil, roadway, and bridge projects with a budget of $30M or more.

Responsibilities include:

• Thoroughly reviewing contract and specifications
• Collaborating with the Project Manager, Project Superintendent, and Project Engineer as needed
• Assisting with schedule preparations and updates
• Managing quantity reporting, project costs, and forecasting
• Sourcing pricing from subcontractors and vendors, including change orders
• Coordinating equipment and material deliveries
• Liaising with subcontractors, suppliers, and workforce to resolve project challenges
• Assisting with monthly billing, cash flow projections, and change order processing
• Ensuring proper document control, including submittal schedules and project record drawings
• Reviewing and verifying accuracy of daily reports using Heavy Job
• Maintaining a technical submittal list
• Adhering to notice requirements for inspections, survey staking, joint measurements, utility locations and adjustments, testing, claims, etc.
• Issuing correspondence to subcontractors and vendors regarding revised plans or specifications
• Contributing to project closeout procedures
• Completing additional assignments as directed by the Project Manager

Requirements:

• B.S. in Civil Engineering with a focus on Construction Engineering and Management (CEM)
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the civil construction field (office/field role)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Primavera 6
