Senior Project Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Lead Project Engineer is responsible for overseeing the development, management, installation, and implementation of assigned capital and major maintenance equipment projects in a manufacturing facility located in Ashtabula, OH. The Lead Project Engineer is also in charge of establishing and maintaining the project process according to company standards, as well as managing the master project list and budget.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate, monitor, and manage internal projects from initiation through completion
  • Direct and coordinate activities within predetermined timeframes and budgets to achieve project goals
  • Evaluate project progress, address issues, and propose solutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction objectives
  • Assess project status and budgets, schedule coordination, and prepare status reports
  • Oversee the operational aspects of assigned projects
  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams to assist in project development and implementation
  • Implement manufacturing improvements in areas such as process stabilization, quality control, labor efficiency, downtime reduction, and scrap avoidance
  • Assess the feasibility of proposed projects and recommend necessary structural, mechanical, electrical, or operational adjustments for senior management approval
  • Implement changes in capital investments and troubleshoot plant issues
  • Evaluate vendor proposals and designs, making sound judgments regarding functionality, cost, and timing
  • Compile supporting documentation and generate reports
  • Develop process flow diagrams, drawings, procedures, and training materials
  • Procure materials required for assigned projects
  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of assigned projects
  • Supervise the installation of all engineering projects to ensure compliance with project specifications
  • Coordinate and review contractor and vendor activities, maintaining company standards through interaction with maintenance and production personnel as needed
  • Leverage plant functional resources to successfully deliver project outcomes
  • Handle complex issues independently, without direct supervision

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in project engineering roles within the chemical manufacturing industry
