Senior Project Engineering Manager

Experienced Project Engineering Manager in the Food or Dairy Industry
Our client, a multinational dairy manufacturer with a presence across continents, opened its initial North American facility in Wisconsin. Specializing in artisanal cheeses like feta and brie, they are dedicated to enhancing production efficiency and cultivating a positive work environment while delivering superior quality cheese products. We are seeking a skilled and innovative Project Engineering Manager to lead this transformative journey. The successful candidate will engage in employee communication, analyze production data, identify bottlenecks and challenges within the plant, and propose engineering solutions accordingly. Additionally, they will collaborate with the Quality, Safety, and Department Managers to incorporate their inputs into the project scope and prepare a compelling Capital Expenditure presentation for approval. Once approved, the candidate will be responsible for developing a project timeline, coordinating with equipment vendors and contractors, overseeing the installation of food processing and packaging lines, and managing the entire process. Furthermore, they will actively participate in the testing and troubleshooting phase to ensure the new equipment meets expectations.
Another key aspect of this role involves overseeing building expansions and related utility projects.
The Project Engineering Manager will report directly to the Plant Director and supervise a Junior Project Engineer.
Main requirement: The ideal candidate must possess a proven track record in managing complex projects within a food plant, preferably in the dairy industry. A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience is required for this position.

Additional Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field of study is mandatory; master’s degree is preferred

Specialized Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with technology and processes in the agri-food industry, as well as project or product engineering within food or dairy processing plants
  • Comprehensive understanding of main dairy process equipment such as HTST systems, separators, membrane systems, and mechanical, electrical, and control systems
  • Knowledge of FDA and USDA regulations
  • Experience collaborating with mechanical, electrical, automation, utilities, and construction trades

The client offers relocation assistance of up to $15,000. The base salary for this position is $135,000 with a potential 20% bonus.
