Job Summary for the Senior Quality Manager: The Senior Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring product safety, quality, and compliance with regulations at the manufacturing plant. This role involves developing and implementing a proactive quality system, conducting quality testing, overseeing operator training and development, managing labeling and complaints, and regularly communicating with sales and plant personnel to address quality program trends, issues, and opportunities based on established policies and procedures.

Requirements for the Senior Quality Manager:

  • Implement and oversee the Quality Assurance Program in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Establish quality assurance specifications for finished products, in-process testing, and ingredients, and ensure compliance with these specifications.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing to establish quality specifications for incoming raw materials and monitor raw materials to ensure they meet the specifications.
  • Recruit, lead, mentor, and supervise the QA team.
  • Create and manage the laboratory budget, identifying opportunities for cost reduction and margin improvement.
  • Analyze and respond to customer complaints in a timely manner.
  • Assist operations in developing procedures and overseeing product and process development and testing, reporting results.
  • Manage inventory of off-spec materials, including scheduling and reworking products if necessary.
  • Conduct internal, vendor, and contract manufacturing audits as needed.
  • Maintain and enhance the current quality assurance lab data system reports.
  • Ensure compliance with company, state, federal, and international safety and regulatory policies and practices.
  • Coordinate pest control services.

Responsibilities of the Senior Quality Manager:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in manufacturing QA management
  • Dairy industry experience required, with knowledge of PMO (Pasteurized Milk Ordinance)
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a Life Science or related field
  • Strong understanding of laboratory testing procedures and computer software applications
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role
