Role Overview:

As a Water Resources Engineer, you’ll support a variety of transportation projects by performing essential hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) design and analysis tasks. You will work on a diverse range of projects involving stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, drainage systems, and floodplain modeling for DOT and municipal clients.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop hydrologic and hydraulic models, flood studies, and stormwater designs

  • Support bridge and highway projects with scour analysis, bridge hydraulics, and drainage design

  • Prepare plans, reports, technical specifications, and supporting documentation

  • Engage with clients to address technical challenges, with opportunities to lead tasks or projects

  • Work on diverse assignments across the Mid-Atlantic, primarily focused in Delaware and surrounding states

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and contribute to high-quality plan production using MicroStation


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred)

  • PE license required

  • 5–12 years of experience in water resources or civil engineering

  • Strong background in H&H modeling, stormwater design, drainage systems, floodplain management, and erosion control

  • Proficiency with relevant tools/software:

    • MicroStation v8i/ORD

    • HEC-RAS, HY-8, ArcGIS

    • Storm and SewerCAD, WinTR-55, WinTR-20, HydroCAD, SMS/SRH2D

  • Prior experience with state DOT projects (DelDOT, MDSHA, VDOT, DCDOT, PennDOT)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong technical writing and plan production abilities


Preferred Attributes:

  • Master’s Degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering

  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and leading project-related tasks

  • Client-facing skills and interest in developing project management capabilities

  • Active involvement or leadership in professional engineering societies

  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment
