How You Will Make an Impact:
As a Cloud Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining, optimizing, and troubleshooting Oracle OCI environments, ensuring their performance, availability, and security. Collaborating with diverse teams, you will design, implement, and manage cloud-based solutions that align with industry best practices and meet business requirements.
Location: This is a 100% remote position, requiring availability during EST working hours and occasional on-call support. We prefer candidates located in the eastern and central time zones. However, individuals residing near Pittsburgh, PA, and willing to work hybrid will be given priority.
Your Responsibilities:
- Effectively administer and manage OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure) environments, covering compute, storage, network, and security services.
- Oversee and execute end-to-end cloud migrations with efficiency and accuracy.
- Proactively monitor OCI resource performance, availability, and capacity, promptly addressing any issues or anomalies.
- Design, implement, and maintain resilient and scalable architectures within Oracle OCI.
- Develop and manage automation scripts and infrastructure-as-code templates to streamline the provisioning and maintenance of Oracle OCI resources.
- Collaborate with application development and infrastructure teams to optimize cloud-based solutions, ensuring optimal performance and cost-effectiveness.
- Resolve complex issues related to OCI services, Linux operating systems, and associated infrastructure through effective troubleshooting.
- Implement and maintain robust security controls, including access management, data encryption, and compliance with industry regulations.
- Participate in the evaluation and selection of new cloud technologies and tools, offering informed recommendations based on industry trends and best practices.
- Create comprehensive technical documentation, including system configurations, processes, and procedures.
Your Qualifications:
- Minimum 7 years of IT experience, with at least 3 years as a Cloud Engineer working extensively with Oracle OCI environments. Experience with cloud migrations to AWS and managing complex compute, storage, networking, and security services in a large-scale setting is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to interconnect cloud networks and execute large OCI migrations. Familiarity with various cloud environments is a plus.
- Preferred knowledge and experience with Exadata.
- Hands-on experience with WebLogic Server Administration tasks, such as installation, configuring domains, deploying apps, and integrating systems.
- Proficient in Linux administration, including Linux internals, command-line tools, shell scripting, and system performance tuning.
- Exposure to database administration tasks is desirable.
- Experience with automation and infrastructure-as-code tools, such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar technologies.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, and firewalls.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of security best practices, access management, encryption, and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities with great attention to detail.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work efficiently in cross-functional teams.
- Ability to pass a federal background check successfully.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Certification: Relevant certifications such as Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Certified Architect or Linux certifications are advantageous.
Work Authorization: Candidates must be US Citizens or US Permanent Residents (GC holders) based in the USA.
