  1. We are looking for a supportive and knowledgeable Speech Therapist to join our team and make a positive impact on the lives of residents and their families. This position is specifically for a REHAB unit.

  3. Our Speech-Language Therapy team plays a crucial role in ensuring the health and well-being of our residents. Responsibilities include developing and implementing speech-language therapy treatment plans, conducting audiometric screenings, and providing referral recommendations. This position prioritizes the delivery of high-quality resident care at all times.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Conduct communication problem screenings upon request and perform detailed evaluations to create therapy plans.
    2. Coordinate and conduct audiometric screenings, making referrals for further audiology evaluations or treatments if needed.
    3. Initiate speech-language therapy plans in accordance with physician orders and maintain communication with the physician throughout the resident's therapy program.
    4. Treat residents with respect and kindness, ensuring their rights are upheld.
    5. Maintain accurate records such as evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries for residents in speech-language treatment programs.
    6. Collaborate with other staff to address the special needs of residents and integrate speech-language treatment programs with the goals and approaches of other disciplines.
    7. Attend Resident Care Planning and Family/Resident Care Plan Review meetings for residents in speech-language treatment programs.
    8. Complete necessary records including statistical reports, in-service education information, budget information, and material/equipment inventory.
    9. Submit statistical reports to the Business Office staff for Medicare billing and respond to assessment requests.
    10. Attend staff meetings and required or preferred in-service training.

    11. Assist in developing and conducting in-service training programs for facility personnel involved in resident care.
    12. Review speech-language policies and procedures annually, making revisions as necessary.
    13. Manage program costs within the annual budget.
    14. Adhere to safety rules and practices to ensure the safety of staff, residents, and visitors.
    15. Generate ideas to improve resident care quality and enhance position productivity and satisfaction.
    16. Meet position and facility service excellence standards and goals.
    17. Provide exceptional customer service to residents, staff, and visitors.
    18. Complete other assigned duties as directed by supervisor, management staff, or Administrator.

    Qualifications:

    • Hold an M.A. or M.S. Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an approved school.
    • Possess a valid New York State license to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
    • Clinical Competence Certification from the American Speech and Hearing Association is preferred.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Display maturity, diplomacy, and ability to collaborate effectively with others.
    • Verification of qualifications by the New York State Department of Health, Office of Rehabilitation Therapies is required.
    • Execute tasks to established standards of excellence.
