  • Location: Waverly, NY in the Southern Tier region of New York State.
  1. As a member of the Speech-Language Therapy team, you will be responsible for evaluating resident's communication needs, developing treatment plans if necessary, conducting audiometric screenings, and ensuring the highest level of resident care.
  2. This position requires working weekdays, weekends, and some holidays.

Responsibilities:

1. Conduct screenings and evaluations for residents with communication difficulties.
2. Coordinate audiometric screenings and make referrals for further evaluations or treatments.
3. Implement speech-language therapy plans according to physician orders and maintain communication with the physician during the therapy program.
4. Respect residents' rights and provide care with kindness.
5. Maintain documentation of evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
6. Collaborate with other staff members to integrate speech-language therapy with other disciplines' goals.
7. Participate in resident care planning meetings.
8. Keep records of statistical reports, in-service education information, budget details, and inventory.
9. Submit statistical reports for billing and complete assessment forms as required.
10. Attend staff meetings and required or preferred in-service training.

11. Assist in developing and conducting in-service training programs for facility personnel.
12. Review and update speech-language policies and procedures.
13. Manage program costs within budget limits.
14. Adhere to safety rules and practices to ensure the safety of staff, residents, and visitors.
15. Generate ideas to improve resident care and increase productivity and satisfaction.
16. Meet service excellence standards and goals.
17. Provide excellent customer service to residents, staff, and visitors.
18. Perform other duties assigned by supervisor, management, or Administrator.

Qualifications:

• Hold a master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an approved school.
• Possess a valid New York State license to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
• Preferred certification from the American Speech and Hearing Association.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work well with others and demonstrate maturity and diplomacy.
• Verification of qualifications by the New York State Department of Health required.
• Ability to meet established standards of excellence.
