  1. As a member of our Speech Language Therapy team, you will be responsible for assessing residents for communication problems, conducting evaluations and creating therapy plans if necessary. You will also coordinate audiometric screenings and make referrals for further evaluations or treatments. This position ensures the highest standard of resident care is maintained at all times.
  2. This role requires availability on weekdays, weekends, and some holidays.

Responsibilities:

1. Screen residents for communication problems and conduct thorough evaluations to determine the need for therapy.
2. Coordinate audiometric screening tests and refer residents for further evaluations or treatments as required.
3. Develop and implement speech-language therapy plans in accordance with physician orders, maintaining regular communication with the physician during the therapy program.
4. Treat residents with respect and kindness, ensuring their rights are observed.
5. Maintain accurate records of evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries for all residents in the speech-language treatment program.
6. Collaborate with other staff members to address the specific needs of residents and integrate the speech-language treatment program with other disciplines.
7. Attend meetings related to resident care planning and review for those in the speech-language treatment program.
8. Keep records of statistical reports, in-service education information, budget details, and inventory of materials and equipment.
9. Prepare statistical reports for Medicare billing and complete assessment forms as needed.
10. Attend staff meetings and participate in required or preferred in-service training.

11. Assist in developing and conducting in-service training programs for facility personnel involved in resident care.
12. Review speech-language policies and procedures annually, making necessary revisions.
13. Manage program costs within the annual budget.
14. Follow safety rules and practices to ensure the well-being of staff, residents, and visitors.
15. Generate ideas to improve resident care and increase productivity and satisfaction.
16. Perform assigned duties according to established service excellence standards and goals.
17. Provide exemplary customer service to residents, staff, and visitors.
18. Complete other duties assigned by supervisor, management staff, or Administrator.

Qualifications:

• Hold a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an approved school.
• Possess a valid New York State license as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
• Preferably hold Clinical Competence Certification from the American Speech and Hearing Association.
• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrate maturity, diplomacy, and the ability to work collaboratively.
• Meet qualifications verified by the New York State Department of Health, Office of Rehabilitation Therapies.
• Consistently perform tasks to established standards of excellence.
