Job Summary
Seeking a senior level chemical engineer experienced in process simulation, operation, and process safety management in midstream processing facilities. This role will serve as a technical lead, providing support for capital projects with a focus on project development and performing various engineering activities related to the design, procurement, construction, or optimization of company assets including NGL fractionation, natural gas processing, and hydrocarbon storage facilities. The technical lead will also assist in equipment/system design and process safety management.
Responsibilities
- Direct and/or perform engineering and project management activities related to design, procurement, construction, or optimization of company assets including transmission and/or gathering systems, NGL fractionation, natural gas processing, and/or hydrocarbon storage facilities
- Provide technical and engineering assistance on matters including equipment/system design, pipeline sizing and evaluation, pipeline control, pipeline facility design, construction, operation, and maintenance, policies and procedures, and process safety
- Perform and review project management activities including bid proposals and contracts, AFE preparation and cost management, management of change, material/equipment specifications and selection, construction plans and support, creating and updating schedules/timelines, preparing project progress and other reports, and managing change orders
- Identify equipment efficiencies, perform hydraulic calculations, determine valve and pipeline sizing, and conduct gas flow analysis
- Research, analyze, prepare, and approve engineering studies, governmental rules/regulations/codes/standards, pipeline/measurement system analyses and recommendations, hydrocarbon processing/measurement bid proposals, construction/measurement contracts, cost estimates, and material specifications/selections
- Make recommendations for improvements related to capacity, operating costs, and system operation
- Evaluate proposed projects by conducting load studies
- Analyze measurement system designs and make recommendations for improvements
- Perform economic analysis for potential new projects and conduct definitive studies for potential acquisitions
- Identify opportunities for improvement and develop and implement new processes
- Anticipate changes in work demands and identify assignments or training to meet those demands
- Oversee utilization of manpower and equipment resources
- Assess, schedule, and prioritize projects based on customer needs and value
- May have oversight of employees engaged in field operations, construction, and/or project management function
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or closely related field
Experience
- Experience and knowledge of engineering design and criteria for natural gas and/or NGLs in pipeline systems
- Experience with engineering, operations, and/or project management
- Experience achieving goals and developing employee/team strengths
- Experience in using applications such as Microsoft Excel, Project, Access, Word, etc.
- Experience researching and preparing project materials and design specifications, contracts, agreements, budgets, engineering studies, and relevant reports
- Experience identifying, researching, understanding, evaluating, and prioritizing operational problems and coordinating appropriate action/response
- Experience with pipelines or hydrocarbon processing and related facilities design, construction, operation, and maintenance
Requirements
- Experience in operations or design of hydrocarbon facilities (Gas Plants, Fractionation plants, Chemical Plants, or Refineries)
- Experience in Process Safety Management (PSM) including Process Hazard Analysis (PHA)
- Experience in simulation modeling (ASPEN, HYSIS, and/or ProMax)
Preferred Skills
- Good communication skills both with technical and operational members
- Good teamwork skills
- Knowledge of relief systems and sulfur treating
