As a Senior Process Improvement Specialist, you will foster a culture of continuous improvement across the entire business unit. You will actively promote and facilitate the use of various improvement methodologies to support new and existing operations. This position involves utilizing lean techniques, root cause analysis, waste reduction, and taking swift action. You will collaborate with employees of all levels and functions within the organization. Your role will specifically support the VP of Operations within the designated Business Unit/Vertical and report to the CI Manager.
Facilitate and execute Value Stream Maps & Kaizen Events throughout all stages, from ideation to sustainment. Identify process gaps, recommend improvements, and ensure their implementation. Manage lean transformation activities and projects for a large customer account or multiple accounts. Coach process owners on engineering and Lean methods for operational excellence.
Collect and analyze data, map and document processes. Independently identify process gaps, recommend improvements, and implement them. Tackle complex problems and evaluate identifiable factors. Develop thorough and timely continuous improvement plans to address the most critical business needs. Drive significant improvements in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee development.
Develop expertise in engineering methods, Lean tools, and quality standards. Train and guide employees on CI, Quality Assurance, and Lean principles. Apply company methodologies and engineering tools to optimize distribution and transportation operations. Provide regular progress reports and make recommendations for Inventory and Supply Chain strategies.
Plan, prepare, and support Lean events, including start-ups, expansions, and closures. Follow up on events and ensure compliance with lean plans. Support continuous improvement deployment using lean fundamentals. Complete improvement projects that lead to enhanced business outcomes. Assess CI initiatives and provide input and recommendations for future activities. May assist or lead Lean Assessments.
Design, implement, monitor, and maintain a Quality Management System (QMS) based on company and industry standards. Establish and monitor a corrective action system. Support regulatory compliance and certification requirements. Carry out Quality Assurance functions for start-ups or expansions.
Perform other assigned duties as needed.
Skills and Abilities:
Lean expertise: Creating Cell Designs, Managing Material Flow, Designing Plan for Every Part Systems (PFEP), Operating Kanban and Supermarket Systems, Implementing Pull Systems and Lean Manufacturing Systems, Developing and managing Leader Standard Work, Visual Management Systems, and Management Accountability Systems, Applying Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA), Facilitating Kaizens
Warehouse Engineering skills: Product Slotting, Distribution Center Material Handling Equipment, Studying Labor Standards, Optimizing Distribution Layouts and Flow, Utilizing Warehouse Metrics, Rationalizing Headcount and Forecasting, Profiling Data
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management or Industrial Engineering preferred. Alternatively, equivalent work experience of at least 6 years.
Preferred Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or Industrial Engineering
Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in the Distribution, Warehousing, Manufacturing, Transportation, Supply Chain Logistics industries
Skills in Lean, TPS, and QMS
Preferred certifications from American Production Inventory Control Society (APICS), Supply Chain Logistics Certification, and Lean Certification
