Sr. IT Manager – ServiceNow Platform

RESPONSIBILITIES: As the IT Senior Manager - ServiceNow Platform, you will lead the design and implementation of the ServiceNow platform, ensuring it aligns with business goals and industry best practices. Your role will involve simplifying the current system, reducing customizations, and bringing ServiceNow closer to its original version. You will also manage a team of five developers and a manager.

LOCATION: Reston, VA. This position is open to candidates residing within a 60-mile radius.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with business leaders, stakeholders, and technical teams to develop and implement innovative solutions using the ServiceNow platform
  • Create platform roadmaps that ensure scalability, performance, stability, and compliance with audits
  • Lead the design of workflows, integrations, and modules that extend the capabilities of the ServiceNow platform
  • Drive end-to-end implementation of ServiceNow solutions, focusing on Core foundation, ITSM, ITAM, SecOPs, GRC, TPRM, and other relevant modules
  • Oversee platform upgrades, ensuring optimization and adherence to enterprise security and compliance standards
  • Provide technical guidance for configuring, customizing, and developing on the ServiceNow platform based on business needs
  • Manage the documentation of solutions, internal technical and process knowledge base materials, and training of process owners and stakeholders
  • Lead a team of ServiceNow engineers, providing mentorship, guidance, and career development
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (IT, Security, Engineering, Finance, HR) to drive adoption and ensure platform success
  • Engage with executive leadership to understand business objectives, providing solutions that deliver measurable outcomes
  • Coordinate with business and IT stakeholders to ensure clear communication regarding project status, challenges, and milestones
  • Establish governance and best practices to improve platform performance and operational efficiency
  • Stay abreast of the latest ServiceNow trends, releases, and best practices, proactively applying new technologies and functionalities to enhance the platform
  • Create an environment that encourages engineering team members to experiment with technical solutions to solve organizational problems

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years of experience with ServiceNow, including deep expertise in ITSM, ITAM, SecOPs, GRC, and TPRM modules
  • Strong background in architecting and designing ServiceNow platform implementations, including workflows, custom apps, and integrations
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor technical teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture while delivering large-scale projects
  • Proven track record of meeting strict deadlines and targets as an individual and as a leader
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (JavaScript, Glide, etc.) for ServiceNow platform development and Service Portal (HTML, CSS, AngularJS, SASS, Bootstrap)
  • Thorough understanding of CMDB, Asset Management, Discovery, Portal, Incident, Problem, and Change Request Management processes
  • Experience integrating ServiceNow with external systems via REST/SOAP APIs, Integration Hub, and Spokes
  • Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, and Kanban development methodologies
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present technical concepts to business leaders and stakeholders
CERTIFICATIONS:
  • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (ITSM, ITAM, or similar)
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA)
  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD)
  • ITIL v3/v4 certification is a plus
  • Certified Technical Architect (CTA) is highly valued
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in IT, Business, or a related field preferred, or equivalent work experience
LOCATION: Candidates must reside within a reasonable commute to Reston, VA (60 mi)
