Sr Landfill Operations Manager
SENIOR WASTE MANAGEMENT SUPERVISOR
Rochester, NH
Salary: $120,000 - $160,000 per year + Bonus + Signing Bonus + Paid Relocation
Oversees the financial performance and productivity of multiple Operating Units, which include managing 1 Solid Waste Landfill and 2 Solid Waste Transfer Stations in NH and 1 in Massachusetts.
Ensures the achievement of annual objectives and the successful implementation of organizational initiatives. Responsible for hiring, developing, coaching, mentoring, and managing performance of all Managers.
Responsibilities:

- Develops and executes an operating plan for the assigned area of responsibility to achieve long-term objectives, enhance effectiveness, and define responsibilities and authority.
- Leads a team of approximately 8 direct reports, including Operations Manager, Leachate Plant Manager, Operations Specialist, Environmental Specialist, and Scale House Attendant. Also oversees around 30 Laborers and Heavy Equipment Operators.
- Continuously reviews and evaluates the performance within the assigned area of responsibility and establishes appropriate performance measures.
- Provides guidance to managers on program execution, and if necessary, recommends modifications in work plans or implementation of contingency plans based on current business conditions.
- Prepares operating unit budget in a timely manner, forecasting financial and human resource needs for future periods.
- Assists managers in optimizing the budget and ensures compliance with budget guidelines.
- Supervises personnel needs within the department, including selection, coaching, training, and performance evaluation. Provides input for termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
- Organizes and schedules all necessary resources to accomplish activities.
- Participates in regular Profit and Loss (P&L) reviews, and implements prescribed programs for equipment utilization, maintenance, and labor and material costs.
- Implements and maintains programs to enhance safety, productivity, and profitability within the Market Area. Ensures compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT)/Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and other relevant federal and state regulations.
Education and Experience

Education: Bachelor's Degree (accredited), or High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant work experience.

Experience: 7 years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirement).

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years of experience managing a team of 5 or more individuals (preferably managers/supervisors). They should also have 10 years of experience in the solid waste, landfill, and/or earthwork construction fields, with a technical and/or engineering background. Experience in leachate management, landfill gas monitoring, landfill development, environmental protection, air emissions, and permitting is highly desirable. A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
