Sr. Maintenance Supervisor
The role of the Senior Maintenance Supervisor is to efficiently manage the maintenance team in order to address plant processes, equipment, and facility upkeep. Adopting a collaborative approach with the motto "One Team, One Mission," this position works across all shifts and departments (Utilities, Production, Planning, Safety) to ensure consistent production, minimize downtime, and enforce HACCP, USDA, and food safety protocols. Additionally, this role emphasizes the continuous growth of our team members. Supervisory Responsibility: This position oversees and supervises the TX facility's Maintenance team, consisting of 10-20 members. Reports to: Maintenance & Utilities Manager
Essential Functions: Leads and oversees the diverse range of activities performed by Maintenance teams and Apprentices, which involves tracking team performance, planned repairs/projects, and preventative maintenance. Ensures quick response to line breakdowns. Takes charge of investigating and conducting failure analysis on work order challenges, working alongside the teams to implement preventive measures. Establishes a safe environment conducive to growth. Promotes teamwork and cooperation among employees. Effectively resolves issues, problems, and complaints. Ensures personal development through training opportunities. Maximizes team member performance while upholding safety procedures and policies. Assists with new projects by providing cost estimates, scope of work, time frame, warranties, etc. Also, provides monthly progress reports. Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures: Safety regulations, GMP's, SOP's, SSOP's, HACCP, and SQF. Serves as a member of the HACCP Team. Provides backup support to Maintenance/Utilities Manager and Supervisors: Fills in for the manager during absences and rotates weekend PM coverage for supervisors when necessary. Offers cross-functional support to the utilities department.
Required Qualifications: • Possess either seven or more years of experience in an Industrial Mechanics or related position OR hold an Industrial Mechanics degree/equivalent technical diploma and have five years of plant maintenance experience. • Have five years of leadership and/or project management experience. • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills, including professional oral and written communication, a team-focused approach, and the ability to remain composed and make decisions in stressful situations. • After one year, must obtain operator 1 certification from an Ammonia Refrigeration training center. • After 3 years, must obtain operator 2 certification from an Ammonia Refrigeration training center. • After 5 years, may be required to fill in for Utilities Supervision when needed.
Preferred Qualifications: • Previous experience in food manufacturing facilities, especially poultry. • Knowledge of regulatory compliance, including USDA regulations, HACCP, GMP, and Food Safety (SQF). • Strong proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems. • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
Work Environment: Primarily works in an office environment but may be required to work in various temperature settings (-40-degree Freezers, 32-degree coolers, 40-degree production area, wet/cold environment). Noise, slippery floors, and moving equipment are common in the operations setting. Physical Demands: This position involves extensive standing, sitting, lifting, climbing ladders, wearing factory required equipment while working in production, walking, visual tasks, quick response to sounds, and driving. Position Type: This is an exempt role; may be required to adjust schedule and work during 'off'-shifts. Travel: Some travel may be necessary to assist in other facilities, but it is limited to less than 5% of the time.
