Sr. Manager Plant Performance

Job Summary:

The Senior Plant Performance Manager is responsible for overseeing a fleet of 21 fossil power plants located in Astoria, NY. These plants have the capacity to produce over 14,000 MW of electricity in the ISONE, NYISO, and PJM regions. In this role, you will be in charge of planning, directing, and administering risk management programs to ensure optimal performance. Your responsibilities will also include analyzing operating assets, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing process enhancements.

Responsibilities:

Lead and coordinate a team responsible for identifying and resolving plant performance issues and failures. This includes conducting root cause analysis, providing technical support, and coordinating with third-party resources. You will also drive the improvement of tools used for analysis and reporting.

Track, coordinate, and report on fleet outage schedules, incidents, and performance metrics. Develop tools to support these activities and facilitate communication between Plant Staff and other corporate teams.

Define fleet performance metrics and collaborate with plant managers to achieve these goals.

Serve as the primary GADS administrator and ensure accurate and timely data submission to various ISOs. Manage the O&M service provider to facilitate data review and submission.

Collaborate with plant managers and technical experts to implement solutions that optimize plant operations and achieve key performance indicators.

Conduct analysis of the power generating fleet using GADS and PI data, utilizing analytical tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Python.

Implement predictive and preventative maintenance techniques to monitor and enhance equipment performance. Analyze process variables to assess the status and trends of key operating parameters.

Qualifications/Skill and Abilities:

A Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering and a Master's in Business Administration are required for this role.

A minimum of ten years' experience in providing technical support to power plants, gas turbines, or large industrial processes is essential.

In-depth knowledge of processing and procedures in NYISO, NEISO, and PJM is required.

Proficiency in GADS, OSI PI, or similar data collection and analysis tools commonly used in the industry is necessary.

Thorough understanding of power plant processes, equipment, and their interrelationships is crucial.

Comprehensive knowledge of power plant operations is required.

Strong leadership and communication skills are necessary to effectively supervise, train, and direct others in a clear and consistent manner.

Ability to manage resources effectively and exercise good judgment in risk management situations.

Proficiency in root cause analysis and technical report writing is essential.

Strong computer skills, including proficiency in PC usage, Windows, Microsoft Office applications, and specialized software for spreadsheet, scheduling, and word processing tasks.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required for effective communication within the team and external stakeholders.
