Sr. Safety & Security Manager

Responsibilities: The Senior Safety and Security Supervisor will be responsible for working closely with operations leadership to achieve operational goals by implementing effective safety, health, and security solutions. This role is in charge of driving the safety and security efforts for the Lewiston, NC food manufacturing complex and other facilities in eastern NC. The main objective is to continuously improve safety processes and cultivate a world-class safety culture. Specifically:

· Oversee all safety and security efforts for the Lewiston manufacturing complex and other facilities in Eastern North Carolina.

· Manage safety for live production and garage/transportation operations, as well as non-manufacturing facilities in the area. Collaborate with the regional safety director. Support a total of 1800 FTEs.

· Directly supervise and manage the daily activities and personnel matters of the facility, including security contract personnel.

· Lead the facility security team and manage all security processes, including developing and administering site security practices and policies. Ensure training objectives are met and conduct timely site surveys and audits.

· Provide technical expertise to cross-functional teams to ensure safe operational processes and successful completion of capital/engineering projects. Collaborate with experts in vehicle safety, corporate security, environmental, PSM, and other areas to align facility activities and objectives. Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, DHS, DOT, and other relevant regulations.

· Promote safety awareness and engage with the hourly workforce to establish and maintain a world-class safety culture. Proactively address safety issues and concerns.

· Develop the site safety business plan by analyzing relevant data and tracking/reporting facility and corporate key performance indicators and metrics. Conduct internal safety and security audits and ensure findings are addressed and resolved.

· Provide training support to the organization and ensure timely completion of all required safety training.

· Conduct thorough investigations of all safety and security incidents and actively participate in complex and high-impact investigations. Identify root causes and develop appropriate corrective actions, ensuring recommendations are implemented. Use incident data to create action plans addressing hazards and emerging trends.

· Be a leader or member of the incident command team and be available to respond and direct emergency response activities.

· Serve as the main contact for third-party assessments, audits, and inspections, such as those conducted by insurance carriers, local fire departments, risk engineering firms, OSHA, DHS, etc.

· Build relationships with occupational health/medical personnel to improve worker safety, associate wellness, and case management for supported sites. Actively assist in managing all open claims related to worker's compensation.

Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Safety & Heath, Industrial Health Management, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field such as Safety Engineering is required. A Master's degree in Environment, Safety & Health is preferred. In addition, a minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing safety management with responsibility for multiple sites is required. Other requirements include:

· Proven experience leading a successful safety program with a TRIR of less than 2.0.

· Valid driver's license and US passport.

· Thorough knowledge of OSHA requirements.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively manage and motivate employees, and to communicate objectives and action plans.

· Ability to research relevant information from internal and external sources.

· Previous experience with SAP is a plus.

· Ability to implement behavioral-based safety techniques to improve and maintain safety performance.

· 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and annual 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher training.

· CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it.

· Bilingual: Ability to speak English and either Spanish or French.

· Certification from the Board of Safety Professional (CSP) or the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) is preferred.
