Lead Technical Designer - Women's Athletic Wear

A well-established Wholesale Manufacturer in New York City is seeking a Lead Technical Designer for Women's Athletic Wear. This role primarily involves working with Cut & Sew Knit and Woven Sportswear for women. The ideal candidate should possess extensive knowledge and expertise in technical garment construction and should also have experience working with discount retailers such as TJ Maxx and Burlington.

Requirements

• Experience in handling Women's Cut & Sew Knits and Woven Sportswear or similar product categories
• Experience in managing a team of 1-2 individuals
• Exceptional time management skills with the ability to complete tasks promptly
• Outstanding follow-up skills and ability to achieve desired results in all correspondences
• Excellent analytical and organizational abilities, with a keen focus on accuracy and attention to detail
• Proficient in fit and function analysis, garment construction, and the creation of grade rules
• Knowledge of patternmaking and the ability to make pattern corrections
• Understanding of fabric properties and their impact on fit and functionality
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Familiarity with Illustrator is a plus
• Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
• Preference given to candidates with experience working with Costco

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct fitting sessions
• Maintain regular communication with overseas factories to achieve satisfactory fits and ensure timely production processes
• Develop a deep understanding of each client's requirements and compliance standards
• Follow up on sample requirements for each individual client as needed
• Thoroughly review and prepare samples for customer approval
• Analyze and compare competitor brands to create specific fits
