Structures Estimator
We are seeking a detail-oriented Structural Cost Estimator to join our team in Raleigh, NC. As a Structural Cost Estimator, you will be responsible for accurately and efficiently preparing bid projects. This includes preparing bids, selecting subcontractors and vendors, and estimating crew compositions and production rates for various construction projects such as paving, bridges, earthwork, interstate rehabs, highway replacements, and airports.
About the Role
In this role, you will be responsible for the preparation and review of all estimate packages, ensuring that department standards and procedures are followed while maintaining the accuracy and completeness of the estimate packages.
Key Responsibilities
1. Thoroughly review plans, proposals, specifications, RFPs, and other project-related documents to develop competitive and competent bid proposals.
2. Actively communicate with subcontractors and vendors to obtain and consolidate quotes.
3. Prepare reports and analysis related to estimating as requested by management.
4. Calculate labor, equipment, and material costs to determine accurate project estimates.
5. Possess a solid understanding of construction assemblies and all project phases.
6. Generate accurate estimates based on conceptual and schematic drawings.
7. Produce detailed and final contract estimates.
8. Evaluate site exposures and construction risks to accurately analyze costs and incorporate them into estimates.
9. Identify potential construction issues throughout the estimating process.
10. Identify value-engineering alternatives to optimize project costs.
11. Maintain effective communication with supervisors and coworkers.
12. Working experience with HCSS software is a plus.

Education and Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Estimator bidding on heavy highway projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent.
- Ability to understand work directions and effectively communicate with management and fellow employees.
- Prior experience as an estimator bidding on DOT or heavy highway projects between $5M and $25M while working for a General Contractor.
