Subcontract Manager (Aerospace)

The Aerospace Procurement Manager position is currently available in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This role offers a competitive salary ranging from $110,000 to $135,000, along with paid relocation.
This exclusive opportunity requires an experienced individual to join our team as a Subcontract Manager.
Responsibilities:
  • Effectively oversee and manage all aspects of subcontract execution, ensuring alignment with program goals in terms of cost, timeline, technical performance, and quality. This includes activities such as proposal development, negotiations, contract finalization, and seamless integration of subcontract deliverables within the program framework.
  • Demonstrate expert-level understanding of different contract structures (e.g., Firm Fixed Price (FFP), Cost Reimbursement, Time & Materials (T&M), Cost-Plus-Fixed-Fee (CPFF), Cost-Plus-Incentive-Fee (CPIF)), government proposal processes, and Basis of Estimate (BOE).
  • Show proficiency in negotiating, managing subcontractors, and effectively mitigating program risks.
  • Act as a subject matter authority in reviewing technical Statements of Work (SOWs), clarifying project scope, and ensuring cross-functional accountability to minimize ambiguity in technical specifications and language.
  • Have expertise in dealing with FAR/DFAR regulations, Prime Contract flowdowns, international trade compliance, ITAR/EAR guidelines, import/export protocols, and general contract terms. Additionally, possess a strong understanding of policies and procedures, negotiation of legal documents, and supply chain strategies aimed at improving key performance indicators (KPIs) and return on investment (ROI).
  • Apply problem-solving skills and analytical expertise to identify and resolve challenges, ensuring smooth project execution.
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of how Subcontracts interact with other departments, such as Contracts, Program Management, Finance, Engineering, Quality, Business Development, and other key functions.
  • Provide reports and effectively communicate complex issues and program changes to senior leadership, including the Program Manager, Business Development, Supply Chain Leadership, and Operations teams.
  • Collaborate closely with Supply Chain Managers, Program Management, and technical teams to oversee high-value proposals and subcontract negotiations.
  • Possess knowledge of intellectual property (IP) and patent requirements, working collaboratively with technical teams to enhance processes, refine SOWs, propose improvements, and implement strategies for risk reduction and potential cost savings.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 9 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's Degree, or at least 7 years of relevant experience with a Graduate Degree. Alternatively, 13 years of related experience can be substituted for a degree.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the Aerospace and Defense sector.
  • Proficiency in FAR/DFAR regulations is essential.
  • DoD security clearance is preferred.
  • Experience in managing budgets and sales forecasting as a Cost Account Manager for Subcontracts.
  • Preferably, have Lean Six Sigma experience.
