Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Superintendent to oversee and coordinate field operations for a specific area of discipline or an entire project. In this role, you will work closely with project management and engineers to ensure safety, quality, schedule, and budget goals are achieved. Additionally, you will provide guidance and mentorship to junior-level team members.
Primary Duties:
• Collaborate with project stakeholders and subcontractors to coordinate work activities and ensure smooth project execution.
• Plan and schedule tasks for tradespeople, professionals, and laborers, effectively communicating instructions and project assignments.
• Conduct preconstruction meetings with subcontractors to discuss work plans and ensure alignment with project goals.
• Manage onsite manpower and personnel requirements to ensure efficient workflow and timely project completion.
• Lead toolbox talks/briefings to promote employee safety and ensure adherence to established protocols.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards, taking appropriate actions to address any issues or concerns.
• Oversee the procurement and utilization of equipment necessary for the project, such as cranes, trailers, and trucks.
• Supervise trade crews and monitor their weekly work activities to ensure high-quality workmanship and progress towards project goals.
• Utilize project contract documents, specifications, and drawings to guide construction activities and ensure compliance with design specifications.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive site logistics plan that promotes efficient project execution and minimizes disruptions.
• Create and manage scopes of work for various trades, ensuring clear understanding of project requirements and deliverables.
• Conduct constructability reviews to identify potential challenges or conflicts and propose effective solutions.
• Evaluate field progress against project plans and develop recovery plans if necessary to ensure project milestones are met.
• Facilitate preconstruction meetings with subcontractors to align project objectives and strategies before initiating each phase of work.
• Manage the completion of project close-out activities, ensuring all necessary tasks and documentation are properly executed and delivered.
• Handle punch list items and procedures, addressing any outstanding issues or deficiencies in a timely and effective manner.
Lead meetings to coordinate work activities, ensuring effective collaboration and communication among team members and stakeholders.
Participate in owners’ meetings to provide updates, address concerns, and ensure alignment with project requirements and objectives.
Contribute to the development and management of a CPM schedule, incorporating short-term plans to optimize trade engagement and project execution.
Review and verify quantity takeoffs and materials management process during the buyout process for specific scopes of work.
Track project phase completion against milestones to ensure timely progress and identify areas for improvement or intervention.

Advise colleagues of any hazardous situations and actively participate in workplace inspections to identify and address potential risks.
Comply with statutory requirements, including duty of care, to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all personnel.
Participate in required and/or assigned training to continuously enhance knowledge and skills related to safety practices and project execution.
Offer suggestions and ideas to improve safety measures and mitigate potential hazards or risks in the workplace.
Demonstrate a mature and responsible approach to working safely, promoting a culture of prioritizing safety in all aspects of the job.
Attend prestart and safety meetings, actively contributing to discussions and initiatives aimed at maintaining a safe working environment.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
Minimum of six (6) years of experience in the construction industry.
Proven experience managing a scope of work valued at $1 million or higher.
Strong understanding of planning and scheduling principles.
Solid grasp of business and financial principles to effectively manage project expenses and resources.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
