Supervisor of Purchasing

Location: Ottawa, IL

The Purchasing Supervisor will have a crucial role in overseeing our procurement process, ensuring efficient and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services while upholding the highest quality standards. You will collaborate closely with internal teams and external suppliers to optimize our supply chain and contribute to the overall success of the company.

Primary Responsibilities:

Strategic Sourcing: Create and implement a strategic sourcing plan to identify, evaluate, and select suppliers that meet our requirements for quality, cost, and delivery.

Supplier Relationship Management: Establish and maintain strong partnerships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and drive improvements in performance.

Cost Management: Maintain oversight of procurement budgets, identify opportunities for cost savings, and implement initiatives to reduce expenses.

Inventory Control: Supervise inventory levels to ensure optimal stock levels, minimize excess inventory, and reduce carrying costs.

Quality Assurance: Collaborate with Quality Control teams to ensure that products and services meet our quality standards.

Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals, offering guidance and support to ensure their success.

Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies during procurement activities.


• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

• At least 5 years of experience in procurement, including 2 years in a supervisory position.

• Exceptional negotiation and communication skills.

• Proficiency in procurement software and tools.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
