Our medical facility provides specialized surgical services in various areas including Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic Surgery, Otolaryngology (ENT), Pain Management, Plastic & Reconstructive, Podiatry, and Urology. With multiple operating rooms and treatment rooms, our AAAHC accredited center seeks candidates familiar with the Pasadena area.
Job Summary

  • Responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the facility's operations to ensure the delivery of exceptional surgical care while optimizing clinical and financial outcomes.

Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the facility.
  • Serve as a mediator between the Governing Board, Medical Staff, and all departments.
  • Provide regular reports on facility activities to the Governing Board.
  • Appoint an interim administrator when necessary.
  • Plan and coordinate facility services and operations.
  • Manage the Partnership according to the relevant agreement.
  • Conduct Monthly Operations Review calls with the Home Office team.

Business Operations

  • Implement and monitor operational processes as part of the facility's Quality Performance Improvement program.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop and manage staffing, operations, and capital budgets.
  • Control purchasing plan to stay within the budget and adhere to group purchasing initiatives.
  • Comply with government regulations and accrediting body requirements.
  • Negotiate and oversee external contracts with physicians, ancillary services, and maintenance.
  • Set pricing for procedures based on cost analysis and market standards.
  • Foster positive relationships among facility departments and act as a liaison with the Home Office.
  • Create and enforce departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintain financial performance and monitor cash flow.

Personnel Administration

  • Conduct monthly staff meetings to communicate goals and priorities.
  • Manage exempt and non-exempt employees in accordance with facility policies.
  • Review employee performance evaluations.
  • Authorize disciplinary actions and terminations.
  • Evaluate management performance.
  • Approve new hires and changes in the workforce.
  • Analyze employee productivity and adjust staffing levels as needed.
  • Implement employee orientation, training, and evaluation programs.
  • Maintain employee files and records.
  • Provide professional development opportunities.

Clinical Services

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accrediting body standards for surgical programs and clinical services.
  • Manage the clinical departments of nursing, central supply, medical records, and housekeeping.
  • Oversee contracted services for laboratory, radiology, pharmaceuticals, laundry, and biomedical engineering.
  • Maintain and repair surgical and patient care equipment.
  • Develop and implement sales/marketing strategies.
  • Identify and develop new services for the ambulatory surgery center.
  • Promote positive public relations and planning.

Quality Improvement

  • Establish and promote a continuous quality improvement program.
  • Administer the infection control program.
  • Identify and resolve quality care issues.
  • Develop statistical indicators to evaluate operations and quality of care.
  • Participate in the Quality Improvement Committee.

Medical Staff Relationships

  • Manage the credentialing process for facility practitioners.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director to review and revise the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations.
  • Serve as a liaison in problem areas with the medical staff.
  • Develop a system to address physician and patient needs.

Administrative Representative

  • Represent the facility in corporate administrative meetings.
  • Align with the facility's vision, mission, and business philosophy.
  • Maintain membership in relevant professional associations.
  • Stay updated on changes in healthcare environment and act accordingly.

Personal Development and Professionalism

  • Identify areas for additional education, consultation, or practicum.
  • Attend mandatory in-services and meetings.
  • Adhere to the facility's professional conduct and dress code policy.
  • Maintain patient, physician, and employee privacy and confidentiality.
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with all stakeholders.

Evaluation Criteria

  • Feedback from patients, families, physicians, and employees.
  • Completion of annual goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Preference for nursing or Master's degree.
  • At least three years of top administrative or management experience in healthcare.
  • Proficient in English language (verbal and written).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Additional qualifications may be determined by the Governing Board.
  • Ability to move around the facility for supervision.
  • Standard office environment with occasional exposure to patient care areas.
