SURGERY CENTER ADMINISTRATOR

Salary: $100,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year

Job Summary

This position involves overseeing the operations of a surgery center with state-of-the-art equipment for various surgical specialties, including Orthopedics, Sports Medicine, Podiatry, General Surgery, Pediatric Urology, and Gastroenterology.

Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Manage the daily operation of the facility
  • Act as a liaison between the Governing Board, Medical Staff, and all departments
  • Report facility activities to the Governing Board regularly
  • Appoint a responsible person in the absence of the Administrator
  • Plan for facility services and operations
  • Manage the overall Partnership as outlined in the agreement
  • Lead Monthly Operations Review calls with the Home Office team

Business Operations

  • Implement and monitor operational processes in line with the facility's quality program
  • Ensure compliance with internal control policies and procedures
  • Develop and manage staffing, operations budget, and capital budget
  • Monitor and control purchasing plan to stay within budget
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies
  • Negotiate and manage external contracts
  • Set pricing for procedures based on cost analysis and market standards
  • Foster positive work relationships among departments and act as a liaison with the Home Office
  • Develop and maintain departmental policy and procedure manuals
  • Monitor financial performance to avoid cash flow problems

Personnel Administration

  • Conduct monthly staff meetings to outline goals and priorities
  • Manage exempt and non-exempt employees in accordance with facility policies
  • Review employee performance and approve disciplinary actions
  • Evaluate management performance
  • Approve additions or deletions of positions and employment applicants
  • Analyze employee productivity and ensure efficiency of staff levels
  • Implement orientation, training, and evaluation programs
  • Manage employee files and records
  • Provide professional development opportunities

Clinical Services

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accrediting standards
  • Manage nursing, central supply, medical records, and housekeeping departments
  • Supervise contracted services
  • Maintain equipment functionality
  • Develop and implement sales/marketing plan
  • Identify and develop new services
  • Promote positive public relations and marketing

Quality Improvement

  • Develop and promote implementation of quality improvement program
  • Administer infection control program
  • Identify and correct quality care issues
  • Develop statistical indicators
  • Serve on the Quality Improvement Committee

Medical Staff Relationships

  • Process credentialing of facility practitioners
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director on medical staff bylaws and regulations
  • Manage relationships with medical staff
  • Develop a system to determine service needs and efficiencies

Administrative Representative

  • Represent the facility at corporate administrative meetings
  • Act in accordance with the facility's vision, mission, and business philosophy
  • Maintain membership in relevant professional associations
  • Stay updated on changes in the healthcare environment

Personal Development and Professionalism

  • Identify areas for additional reinforcement
  • Attend mandatory in-services and meetings
  • Adhere to professional conduct and dress code policy
  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality
  • Communicate effectively and courteously

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Preferably a Nursing or Master's degree
  • Strongly prefer RN qualification
  • Minimum three years of top administrative or management experience in healthcare
  • Excellent command of the English language
  • Ability to work well with various stakeholders

Skills and Certifications

  • Experience in Ambulatory Surgery Center Operations
  • Preferred experience as O/R RN
  • Orthopedics experience is a plus
