Registered Nurse - Post-Surgical Department

Shifts Available: Day Shifts and Night Shifts

Our Post-Surgical unit caters to patients who require overnight care after surgery. These patients are transferred from the operating room to our unit and are typically discharged the following day or day after. The types of surgeries that necessitate a stay in the Post-Surgical department include Total Joints surgery, Urology surgery, and Bariatric Surgery. As a nurse in this unit, you will be responsible for assessing patients, addressing their physical, psychosocial, and learning needs, and helping them with various activities of daily living. Your duties will also include medication administration, wound care, pain management, and assistance during procedures. You will play a crucial role in providing patient and family education and coordinating care among the healthcare team. Documentation of patient assessments and interventions will be done in both electronic and paper format, ensuring concise and timely record-keeping.

  • Assisting patients with activities of daily living, including fall risk management and safe patient handling
  • Administering medications
  • Performing skin assessments and wound care

  • Operating and manipulating patient care and testing equipment
  • Assisting with invasive and non-invasive procedures
  • Teaching patients and families about their medical conditions and healthcare
  • Supervising unlicensed personnel and coordinating interdisciplinary care

Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Oregon or ability to obtain one

- Associate's Degree in Nursing; Bachelor's Degree preferred

- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire
