Job Duties

• Lead a team of surveyors responsible for conducting plane and/or geodetic surveys for various construction, topographic, right-of-way, and control survey projects.
• Attend project planning meetings with the project team to discuss pre-survey preparations.
• Assign and oversee the work of the survey crew members, providing constructive feedback for their evaluations.
• Train and educate the survey crew on surveying and mapping techniques, equipment usage, and field safety protocols.
• Collect field survey data using traditional and GPS-based methods. Set up, calibrate, and operate surveying equipment such as electronic total stations, data collectors, and GPS devices to measure distances, elevations, and angles.
• Record field observations and create accurate drawings.
• Conduct field surveys for various construction projects, including buildings, roadways, bridges, and flood control systems. This includes placing surveying stakes, verifying existing intersection ties, and establishing vertical and horizontal control points, right-of-way markers, corners, boundaries, and property lines.
• Perform complex surveying calculations using engineering calculators and laptops.
• Prepare final grade sheets, topographic maps, survey records, corner records, and other necessary survey reports.
• Research existing records, such as maps, plans, deeds, easements, and right-of-way documents. Maintain accurate field data records, survey project files, and indexing systems.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in surveying construction, preferably with heavy highway and bridge projects.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications and translate them into survey data for on-site layout.
• Proficient in CAD and Excel software.
