IT Systems Administrator for Manufacturing Facility
Location: Charleston, SC
We are seeking a skilled IT Systems Administrator to join our team at a leading manufacturing company in North America. This position will be based at our manufacturing facility in Charleston, SC. As an integral member of the IT Infrastructure team, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the IT infrastructure that supports our manufacturing operations. Key Responsibilities
· Manage and maintain physical and virtual servers in the plant operations environment, including VMWare and Windows servers.
· Oversee the management of Active Directory domains and backup and recovery processes in the plant operations environment.
· Collaborate with the Information Security team to ensure the plant operations environment is secure and protected from intrusion, disruption, or data loss.
· Administer Thin Manager & Thin Client Systems, physical operator stations, and standalone PC’s.
· Collaborate closely with plant engineering and electrical teams to ensure smooth implementation of changes in the environment, following established engineering and IT change management protocols.
· Collaborate with external vendors as necessary to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
· Work with the IT Infrastructure team to define network specifications and provide resources for the Service Desk in resolving network and systems-related issues.
· Mentor and train IT team members in systems administration and troubleshooting, while also ensuring cross-training in key infrastructure technologies.
· Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in the Operational Technology environment and support organizational goals.
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
· Minimum of 4-7 years of IT experience in an Industrial Manufacturing environment preferred.
· Knowledge of plant operations communication systems (SCADA Systems, PLC’s, HMI devices) is preferred, as well as familiarity with Windows desktop operating systems.
· Capable of providing Level 2-3 support at the Service Desk.
· Strong troubleshooting skills, including the ability to perform root cause analysis.
· Self-motivated individual who can work well in a team with minimal supervision.
· Systems thinker with the ability to align job contributions with Company objectives.
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Demonstrated commitment to safety culture, engaged teamwork, and continuous improvement.
· Familiarity with Cisco Nexus switches, Siemens Industrial network equipment, VSAN, VMWare 7, Veeam, and Fortigate firewalls is advantageous.
· Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time, if needed.
