Exciting opportunity for an experienced Tax Supervisor to join our well-established firm with the potential for short-term partnership. We offer a hybrid work environment and strive to maintain a reasonable work-life balance. Our client base consists of diverse industries, including closely held clients and high net worth individuals.

We welcome candidates from Big-4, national, or large local L.A.-based CPA firms, and we may provide relocation assistance for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead on-site tax teams in our office
  • Champion the use of technology tools to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and data security
  • Hands-on review and approval of tax returns, as well as other tax consulting and planning work
  • Manage tax projects and ensure compliance with deadlines, taking personal responsibility as the tax preparer
  • Ensure timely delivery of work products and take final responsibility for decisions
  • Implement professional licensing standards and stay updated on tax laws and regulations
  • Mentor and support the professional and personal growth of tax team members
  • Serve as a resource for tax staff and partners, addressing tax-related issues and inquiries
  • Maintain knowledge of changes in tax laws and procedures and update team workflows and standards accordingly
  • Contribute to the design of annual tax staff training
  • Collaborate with partners and other business lines
  • Maintain professional relationships within the accounting profession and engage in relevant membership organizations

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience in public accounting
  • CPA license in the state of California or ability to obtain it within 6 months
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Juris Doctor (J.D.)
  • Advanced degree in taxation is preferred
  • Strong tax research and writing skills
  • Expertise in income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S Corporations, C Corporations, nonprofits, and foundations
  • Preferably experienced in complex real estate transactions, trust accounting, foreign tax matters, and mergers & acquisitions
  • Public speaking experience is a plus
  • Proficient in relevant software
  • Previous experience in managing a team of licensed professionals
  • Strong knowledge of tax controversy, audit, and rulings is highly desirable
  • Emotional intelligence
  • Experience in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion is preferred
