An exciting career opportunity awaits an experienced Tax Senior Manager, Director or Partner looking to take over a substantial client portfolio from a retiring Tax Partner. The ideal candidate should be located in the L.A. area or open to relocating quickly and be willing to work a hybrid schedule of 2-3 days in the office. We prefer candidates with at least 10 years of experience, preferably as a seasoned Director or Partner, who can effectively manage the tax department and handle diverse industries including closely held clients and high net worth individuals. Strong skills in practice development are essential.

Candidates from Big-4, national or large local L.A. based CPA firms, as well as those with corporate tax Director or VP experience in public accounting for less than two years, will also be considered.

Tax Partner

We are searching for a tax partner who possesses a contemporary understanding of professional standards, technology, and data security to lead our tax team. The successful candidate will collaborate with other tax partners to ensure the timely delivery of excellent tax compliance and controversy work. They must have strong team management and mentoring skills. Our firm prioritizes the well-being and development of our clients and staff, emphasizing diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Your responsibilities will include:
• Leading the tax team on-site at our Santa Monica office.
• Advocating for technology tools that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and data security.
• Personally reviewing and approving tax returns and other tax consulting and planning work.
• Managing tax projects and ensuring compliance with deadlines as the designated tax preparer.
• Guaranteeing the timeliness of deliverables and taking ultimate responsibility for decisions.
• Implementing professional licensing standards, Circular 230 requirements, and IRS and FTC regulations within the tax team.
• Collaborating with firm C-Suite leaders on data security, branding, business development, leadership development, people and culture, and information technology.
• Providing hands-on mentorship to support the professional and personal growth of tax team members.
• Acting as a resource for tax staff and partners, offering guidance and answering tax-related inquiries.
• Keeping up-to-date with changes in tax laws and procedures, and implementing necessary adjustments in tax team workflows and standards of practice.
• Contributing to the design of annual tax staff training programs.
• Working alongside partners and other lines of business.
• Maintaining professional relationships within the field and participating in national, state, and local membership organizations.

To succeed in this role, you need:
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in public accounting.
• CPA licensure in California or the ability to obtain it within 6 months of joining the firm.
• A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a J.D.
• Preferably, an advanced degree in taxation.
• Excellent tax research and writing skills.
• Knowledge of income tax returns related to individuals, partnerships, S Corporations, C Corporations, nonprofits and foundations, complex real estate transactions, trust accounting, foreign tax matters, and mergers & acquisitions.
• Public speaking experience is preferred.
• Proficiency in relevant software.
• Experience managing a team of licensed professionals.
• Strong background in tax controversy, audit, and rulings is highly desirable.
• Emotional intelligence.
• Demonstrated leadership in diversity, equity, and inclusion is preferred.
