Exciting opportunity for an experienced Tax Senior Manager, Director, or Partner to assume responsibility for a large client portfolio previously managed by a retiring Tax Partner. Ideal candidates must be based in the Los Angeles area or willing to relocate quickly and be open to a hybrid work schedule, spending 2-3 days per week in the office. We prefer candidates with a minimum of 10 years of experience as a seasoned Director or Partner who can effectively oversee our tax department and handle a diverse range of closely-held clients and high net worth individuals. Strong practice development skills are a must.

We welcome applicants from Big-4 firms, national CPA firms, large local Los Angeles-based CPA firms, or individuals with less than two years of experience as a corporate tax Director or VP in public accounting.

TAX PARTNER

We are seeking a dynamic tax partner who possesses a contemporary understanding of professional standards, technology, and data security. As a tax partner, you will lead our tax team, collaborate with other partners to ensure the prompt delivery of accurate tax compliance and controversy work, and effectively manage and mentor team members. Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the tax team, providing on-site leadership at our office
  • Promote the adoption of technology tools to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and data security
  • Personally review and approve tax returns, as well as other tax consulting and planning work
  • Manage tax projects, ensuring adherence to deadlines and taking personal responsibility as the tax preparer
  • Ensure timely delivery of work and accept ultimate accountability for decisions made
  • Understand and comply with professional licensing standards, Circular 230, the IRC, and FTC requirements for the tax team
  • Collaborate with firm C-Suite leaders on data security, brand and business development, leadership development, people & culture, and information technology
  • Mentor tax team members to support their professional and personal growth
  • Act as a resource for tax staff and partners, addressing any tax-related queries or issues
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in tax laws and procedures, implementing necessary changes to workflows and practice standards
  • Contribute to the design of annual tax staff training programs
  • Work closely with partners and other lines of business
  • Maintain professional relationships within the industry and participate in national, state, and local membership organizations

Requirements:

  • At least 10 years of experience in public accounting
  • CPA license in California or ability to obtain one within 6 months of joining the firm
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or J.D. required
  • Advanced degree in taxation preferred
  • Excellent tax research and writing skills
  • Proficiency in handling income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S Corporations, C Corporations, nonprofits and foundations, complex real estate transactions, trust accounting, foreign tax matters, and mergers & acquisitions
  • Public speaking experience is a plus
  • Strong software skills
  • Experience managing a team of licensed professionals
  • Background in tax controversy, audit, and rulings is highly desirable
