Technical Cheese Manufacturing Manager

Our client is in search of a Technical Cheese Production Supervisor to oversee the cheese manufacturing operations at their Saint Cloud, MN facility. This integral role involves ensuring the production of high-quality cheese products through process optimization and reducing variability. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position also involves managing a team of two salaried employees.

Key Responsibilities

- Optimize cheese production operations to achieve quality and yield targets. Enhance processes through a combination of technical expertise and operations management skills.

- Analyze performance indicators to identify opportunities for efficiency improvement, cost reduction, and product quality enhancement within existing processes.

- Manage and document product trials and process experiments, involving all relevant stakeholders.

- Contribute to site-wide continuous improvement initiatives, both as a leader and as part of a team.

- Provide expertise in the design and layout of new and modified plant processes and equipment.

- Assist engineering in problem analysis, troubleshooting, and the integration of new equipment and processes.

- Ensure compliance with all US, state, and regulatory standards.

- Possess knowledge and experience in pasteurization, membrane filtration, fortification, fermentation, and the processing of cheese making by-products.

- Monitor the quality of finished products through chemical testing and analysis.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

- Lead, coach, and develop a team of two salaried employees in cheese making and process improvement.

Required Education/Experience:

- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Engineering or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- At least 7 years of experience in a technical, operations, or quality assurance role within a food manufacturing facility.

- Previous experience in cheese manufacturing.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Previous experience in a supervisory role.
- Lean Six Sigma Certification preferred – Green or Black Belt.
- Prefer certification in HACCP and/or PCQI.
- Strong understanding of industry best practices and standards for cheese production.
- Proficient in building and optimizing manufacturing processes to achieve commercial goals while prioritizing quality and safety.
- Certified and licensed as a Cheesemaker and HTST operator.
