Job Description
An established Wholesale Manufacturer of children's apparel in New York City is seeking a Technical Design professional to join their team. The Technical Designer will be responsible for ensuring consistent quality and fit in children's apparel.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Design and Production teams to establish and uphold fit and construction standards that maintain brand consistency and quality
- Create specification packages for each style, including accurate grade rules and unique construction details
- Accurately measure and evaluate development and prototype samples for specification, quality, and workmanship
- Lead and facilitate fit sessions with Design and Production departments
- Communicate precise measurement, construction, and workmanship feedback to vendors, offering detailed explanations, diagrams, and patterns as necessary
- Collaborate with Production and Compliance departments to ensure all products meet necessary safety requirements for children
- Respond to fit, specification, pattern, and construction inquiries via email as needed
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in childrenswear
- Familiarity with measuring sample points of measurement to ensure compliance with required specifications
- Strong knowledge of knit and woven garment construction
- Familiarity with patternmaking, sewing terminology, and garment construction
- Understanding of garment manufacturing and product development processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; familiarity with Illustrator is a plus
- Must be available to work in the office five days a week
