Transportation Manager

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fleet Operations Supervisor to oversee the safe and efficient delivery of our products to customers in Fairfield, OH. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, monitoring driver performance, managing equipment condition, and ensuring timely delivery, while also effectively managing expenses.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilize available technology and control features to closely monitor and evaluate driver performance
  • Maintain accurate records of driver pay, equipment maintenance, and equipment performance
  • Review driver logs and paperwork to ensure compliance with policy and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
  • Ensure safe operation of equipment and minimize breakdowns through regular monitoring and maintenance
  • Coordinate the ordering of necessary parts and equipment for drivers
  • Optimize efficiency by reviewing and adjusting routing as needed
  • Recruit, train, direct, and discipline transportation personnel to maximize productivity
  • Create work schedules and assign tasks to transportation personnel
  • Process weekly payroll for the transportation department
  • Review and verify vendor invoices and complete accounts payable vouchers
  • Analyze trip records and fuel reports to track mileage, fuel costs, and fuel economy
  • Monitor monthly expenses and make necessary adjustments in accordance with planning
  • Ensure compliance with Department of Transportation requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
  • Promote safety awareness and enforce compliance practices in the department and distribution center
  • Oversee driver observations to ensure safe operations and accurate delivery procedures

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

High school diploma or GED

Experience

  • 4 - 8 years of experience in transportation
  • 4-year degree with 4 years of transportation supervisory experience preferred, along with a good understanding of computer systems, routing, and DOT regulations
  • Strong employee relations skills

Physical Demands

  • Work primarily involves sitting, but standing and bending are required for equipment checks
  • Significant amount of time spent on key entry tasks
  • Clear communication skills, primarily via telephone
  • Ability to drive and assist with unloading products weighing up to 75 lbs
  • Move products using a 2-wheeler

Mental/Visual Demands

  • Ability to read text at varying distances with or without correction
  • Constant alertness required while driving
  • Able to perform manual tasks, hear, sit, reach, and interact with others

Working Conditions

Work both indoors (protected from weather conditions, but not temperature changes) and outdoors

Equipment Operated

PC, CRT, Microsoft Office applications, and telephone equipment

License or Certifications

No specific licenses or certifications required, but a CDL driver's license and DOT regulations training preferred
