Purpose of Position: The main responsibility of this role is to develop, improve, and implement Building Information Models (BIM) and other Virtual Design & Construction technologies, documentation, and representations.

Position Description
The Virtual Design & Construction Specialist is in charge of virtual construction requirements for Preconstruction, Construction Operations, and Consulting/Litigation Support Services departments. The specialist is a proficient user of all VDC software programs. We are seeking a highly motivated, adaptable, and dedicated individual who is eager to take on new challenges. The specialist will be based in Woodland Hills, CA, but will also travel to project sites and partner offices as required. The position reports to the Virtual Design & Construction Coordinator.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate and develop 3D object-oriented models
  2. Create 5D visual simulations by integrating BIM, time, and cost using Navisworks or Synchro
  3. Perform clash detection
  4. Utilize Trimble 3D scanner for 3D scanning and Trimble Robotic Total Station for layout work
  5. Incorporate actual job cost, model-based quantity report, model-based quantity take-off, and actual schedule information into the model for as-built project control, risk analysis, and historical reference
  6. Generate Formwork and concrete lift and placement drawings for horizontal and vertical control, as well as general assembly drawings
  7. Create photorealistic imagery, as requested, to support Preconstruction and Business Development efforts using Artlantis and other rendering engines
  8. Handle project document management, including RFIs, submittals, PCOs, NOCs, etc.
  9. Process raw 3D point cloud scan files using software suites like Trimble REALWORKS, Scene, Rythm, or similar software and produce registered files
  10. Create as-built models based on the scan files using Trimble REALWORKS, similar software, and/or TEKLA Structures
  11. Convert and adjust building model files or 3D scanned point clouds as necessary to create rapid prototype 3D printable objects using Materials, Magics, and SpaceClaim
  12. Conduct completeness and constructability reviews under supervision, as well as issue and manage RFIs

Qualifications

  1. Minimum of a bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or a construction-related field, or equivalent work experience
  2. Preferred, but not required: 2+ years of experience in the building or design industry
  3. Familiarity with VDC or BIM concepts
  4. Preliminary experience with some Building Information Model (BIM) systems, such as Autodesk Revit, Bentley, Vico Constructor, TEKLA, Synchro, Navisworks, Sketchup, or similar software suites
  5. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, and BlueBeam
  6. Excellent personal management skills, dedication, organization, and adaptability
  7. Creative thinker with the ability to work well in a close-knit environment
  8. Other duties as assigned by supervisors
