Warehouse Manager
Warehouse Manager opportunity available at our Des Moines, IA site. We are a local, family-owned distributor of food and produce, dedicated to serving the Midwest region for over a century. This role focuses on supervising Inbound receiving and Outbound shipping, with a hands-on approach as needed. The Warehouse Manager will oversee both inbound and outbound shifts, working on a split shift schedule. Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, the Warehouse Manager will have a team of supervisors and managers under their leadership. Responsibilities include assigning tasks, ensuring work completion, and optimizing resource utilization. This role will also assist in shipping/receiving, loading/unloading trucks, and merchandise inspection. The ideal candidate will possess previous experience in warehouse management, effective collaboration skills, and the ability to lead by example.
Salary: $70,000 - $90,000, depending on qualifications
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 11:00am-8:00PM
Requirements:
- Preferred: High school diploma or GED, along with 2-4 years of related experience
- Required: Previous Warehouse Management System (WMS) experience
- Preferred: 3+ years of management experience
- Must be able to read and interpret company documents, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to perform basic math calculations and excel in a fast-paced distribution environment
- Obtain licensure to operate warehouse equipment within the first 30 days of employment
Responsibilities:
- SAFETY FIRST: Operate warehouse equipment safely and adhere to all safety guidelines
- Conduct interviews for potential team members and manage the warehouse staff
- Flexible work schedule adjustments when necessary
- Maintain a safe and accessible warehouse environment for employees and visitors
- Read pick tickets and/or requisitions to assemble products for customer orders
- Implement food safety practices among warehouse employees
- Physically able to stand, walk, lift, and carry heavy objects (75 lbs. or more)
- Establish and enforce processes and procedures for maximum efficiency
- Create shift schedules
- Driven by KPIs to achieve results
- Perform additional duties or special projects as required
