Welding Technician – ARC, MIG, and TIG welding

A well-established company dominating the majority market share in their manufacturing niche, while fostering a positive working culture, is offering an exciting opportunity for a skilled Welding Specialist on the day shift. As a Welding Specialist, your main responsibilities will involve maintaining welding equipment and site property. You will also be responsible for performing weld repairs to equipment and facilities in a safe and efficient manner. This position is located in Carrollton, GA, a southwest suburban area of Atlanta. The salary offered is highly attractive. The day shift schedule runs from Monday through Thursday, 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, with overtime paid at time and a half. Additionally, the company offers a competitive 401K plan with matching.

PRIMARY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The following duties and responsibilities encompass all essential job functions as defined by the ADA, except for those labeled as "May.") Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Level I

  1. Arc Welding: Utilize arc welding techniques in various positions, including appropriate selection of welding rod based on the materials being welded, while adhering to the principles of arc welding throughout the tasks.
  2. Mig Welding: Utilize Mig welding techniques in all positions, including selecting the proper wire and gases for the materials being welded. Proficiency in both flux core and gas welding is required, while implementing the principles of Mig welding consistently.
  3. Tig Welding: Perform Tig welding in a variety of positions, while selecting the appropriate rod and gases for the materials being welded and adhering to the principles of Tig welding throughout the tasks.
  4. Oxy Fuel/Plasma/Saw cutting: Utilize the necessary cutting techniques while following the principles of safe cutting practices.
  5. Fabrication: Execute basic fabrication tasks based on provided instructions and prints.
  6. Safe Work Practices: Demonstrate adherence to safe work practices in the vicinity of equipment and work areas.

Level II (Including all Level I responsibilities)

  1. Arc Welding: Independently select welding rods to optimize the strength and performance of welds.
  2. Mig Welding: Independently select the appropriate wire, gases, and pressures to optimize the strength and performance of welds.
  3. Tig Welding: Independently select the appropriate rod, gases, and pressures to optimize the strength and performance of welds.
  4. Oxy Fuel / Plasma cutting: Set up the torch effectively, with some guidance, to minimize any negative impact on the work piece.
  5. Fabrication: Perform fabrication tasks with minimal guidance based on provided prints.
  6. Safe Work Practices: Evaluate the work environment to optimize safety for facilities and others within the work area.

Level III (Including all Level I & II responsibilities)

  1. Arc Welding: Certified to perform arc welding in all positions.
  2. Mig Welding: Certified to perform Mig welding in all positions.
  3. Tig Welding: Certified to perform Tig welding in all positions.
  4. Oxy Fuel / Plasma cutting: Able to independently set up the torch to minimize any negative impact on the work piece.
  5. Fabrication: Perform advanced fabrication tasks without guidance and provide own prints.
  6. Safe Work Practices: Evaluate the work environment to optimize safety for facilities and others within the work area.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  1. Level I - Possess a high school diploma or general education degree (GED), or have one to two years of relevant experience and/or training, or a combination of equivalent education and experience.

  1. Level II - Possess a high school diploma or general education degree (GED), with two to four years of relevant experience and/or training, or a combination of equivalent education and experience.

  1. Level III - Hold technical training certificates or an associate’s degree, with six to eight years of relevant experience and/or training, or a combination of equivalent education and experience.

  1. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Proficiency in writing routine reports and correspondence is also required.

  1. Ability to perform basic mathematical operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  1. Ability to analyze problems, gather data, and establish facts.

While fulfilling the duties of this position, the employee will frequently use their hands to handle objects, tools, or controls, as well as communicate verbally. The employee will also need to stand, walk, reach with hands or arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl on a regular basis. Additionally, the employee must be capable of reaching with hands/arms and lifting weights up to 80 lbs.
